HR World: Gen Z Doesn’t Do CVs – Are You Ready?

2 min read

Has the CV had its day?

For decades, the CV has been the gateway to opportunity. But in a world of storytelling, side hustles, portfolio careers and digital-first talent, is a couple of A4 pages really enough to capture someone’s potential anymore?

More importantly: do today’s candidates even want to create a CV?

For many Gen Z candidates, the traditional CV feels restrictive, outdated, and disconnected from how they actually work, think, and express their skills. When the application process doesn’t reflect who they are or what they can offer, frustration creeps in – and great talent can quietly opt out before you even meet them.

These questions (and a few uncomfortable truths) were unpacked in The HR World webinar: Gen Z Doesn’t Do CVs — Are You Ready?

In the session, Chris Woodward-Jones, CEO and Co-founder of Vizzy, was joined by a panel of leaders at the forefront of hiring, talent, and learning:

  • Lynne Cutts, Talent Acquisition Specialist at Footasylum & SEVENSTORE
  • Tobi Ogundipe, Founder and CEO of JABARI (formerly DIVERSE)
  • Lisandra Radu, L&D Senior Coordinator EMEA at VML

Together, they explored how expectations around hiring are shifting, why CVs may be falling short, and what employers need to rethink if they want to attract (and truly understand) the next generation of talent.

If you’re hiring Gen Z, building future-ready teams, or questioning whether your recruitment process still works in today’s world, this conversation is one you won’t want to miss.
