Vizzy Climate Action Plan

Vizzy has signed the SME Climate Commitment – pledging to halve our emissions before 2030 and achieve net zero before 2050.

Our Commitment

At Vizzy, we believe in a better future, for people and for the planet. We have signed the SME Climate Commitment, publicly pledging to halve our greenhouse gas emissions before 2030 and achieve net zero before 2050.

We won’t pretend we can do everything at once. We rent our office, so we don’t control our energy supply directly. Specialist emissions consultancy is largely out of reach for businesses our size and firms in this space typically work with organisations of 300 or more. We are committed to measuring what we can, using free tools designed for SMEs, and improving year on year. Progress, not perfection.

Who We Are

Vizzy is a digital talent platform operated by Thinking Sky Blue Limited, a cloud-based SaaS business with a small team of ten, based in London. Our primary environmental touchpoints are:

  • Energy use in our rented office space
  • Cloud computing and digital infrastructure
  • Business travel
  • The purchasing decisions we make as a company

This plan focuses on the areas where our impact is real and where we have practical options to act.

Our Approach to Measurement

We recognise that accurate emissions measurement is the foundation of meaningful climate action.

We also recognise the reality: specialist carbon accounting consultants typically serve organisations of 300 people or more, and dedicated emissions software is often priced accordingly.

As a result, we will take a self-directed measurement approach, using free and low-cost tools designed for SMEs, including:

  • The SME Climate Hub’s free carbon measurement resources
  • Publicly available carbon calculators
  • Our cloud provider’s published emissions data and sustainability reporting
  • Employee travel logs and expense data

Our goal is not perfect measurement, it is honest, consistent measurement that improves over time.

We will do our best with the tools available to us, document our methodology, and update our approach as better options become accessible.

Our Targets

The following targets are realistic for a business of our size. Where we have control, we will act. Where our control is limited, such as our office energy, we will advocate, document, and explore alternatives.

Energy & Infrastructure

  • By 31 December 2026: Confirm our primary cloud hosting provider’s published renewable energy or net zero commitment and document this publicly. We will flag any concerns and switch providers if a better-aligned option is available.
  • By 30 June 2027: Ask our landlord / building management about the energy tariff for our office and request a move to a verified renewable tariff where possible. We will document the outcome regardless of result.
  • By 30 June 2027: Complete our first self-assessed carbon footprint estimate using SME-appropriate tools, covering at minimum our cloud hosting, business travel, and any energy use we can access data for. We will publish the results and use them to refine future targets.

Business Travel

  • From 1 September 2026: No domestic flights for business travel where a rail alternative exists within a 4-hour journey time.
  • By 31 December 2026: Adopt a simple sustainable travel policy, reviewed by the board, and shared with all team members.
  • By 31 December 2026: Offset unavoidable business travel emissions through a verified scheme (e.g. Gold Standard or Verified Carbon Standard). Given our small team size, we anticipate this to be a low-cost, high-impact action.

Supply Chain & Purchasing

  • By 31 December 2027: Add environmental criteria to our supplier checklist
  • By 31 December 2027: Ask our key suppliers about their own climate commitments and note their responses. We will prioritise suppliers who are B Corps or members of the 1% for the Planet movement where a like-for-like alternative exists.

Overall Progress Commitment

  • By 31 December 2028: Demonstrate year-on-year reduction in the emissions categories we are able to measure.
  • By 31 December 2030: Set a formal net zero target for our direct operations, informed by the carbon baseline work completed by 2027 and aligned with the SME Climate Commitment framework.

Note: We have not set a verified carbon neutrality target at this stage because we do not yet have a full baseline measurement. We believe it is more honest to commit to what we can measure and improve, rather than make a certification claim we cannot substantiate. Once our baseline is established, we will set more precise reduction targets.

How We Will Deliver This

Ownership & Governance

Climate action is owned at board level by the Directors of Thinking Sky Blue Limited. Day-to-day responsibility sits with Alana Buchanan (Operations Manager) and Chris Woodward-Jones (CEO & Co-Founder). Progress is reviewed quarterly at board level. This plan has been formally approved by the board and will be reviewed every 36 months.

Resources

We are a small team with finite resources. Our commitment is to allocate reasonable time and budget to climate action every year, not to overextend and underdeliver. Specifically:

  • A proportion of our annual budget will be ring-fenced for sustainability activities, including travel offsets, tool subscriptions, and supplier engagement
  • Alana Buchanan will dedicate time each quarter to tracking progress against this plan
  • We will use free SME climate tools rather than expensive consultancy, and will revisit this if our team size or budget grows

Measurement

We will track progress against each target annually and report publicly. Our first carbon estimate will be completed by June 2027, giving us a baseline from which to set more precise targets in the next iteration of this plan.

How We Engage Our Stakeholders

Our team: All employees are briefed on this plan. We will update the team on progress at least annually and invite contributions to our sustainability efforts.

Our business customers:
This plan is publicly available. We will share it with any business partner or customer who requests information about our environmental commitments.

Our community: We will publish our progress publicly on our website, updated at minimum every 12 months, so that jobseekers, employers, and the public can hold us accountable.

Our suppliers: We will engage key suppliers on climate and factor environmental performance into procurement decisions, using our Supplier Values Checklist.

Our Progress So Far

This section is updated annually. For the initial publication, include any actions already taken.

  • Vizzy is a certified B Corporation, meeting high standards of verified social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
  • We have signed the SME Climate Commitment, publicly committing to halve emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050.
  • Our platform is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), which matched 100% of its global electricity consumption with renewable energy sources in 2024 including the Europe (London) region where our infrastructure sits. Running workloads on AWS can reduce a company’s carbon footprint by up to 99% compared to on-premises servers.
